If your lawn mower stops when hot and restarts after cooling, the cool-down period is an important clue. It can mean fuel delivery changes as the engine compartment warms, an ignition component loses output at operating temperature, or the engine is working harder than it should. Know when the carburetor is more likely than the tank vent

A useful observation is whether the engine runs only with choke partly applied.
